Omaha Children’s Museum is a great place to learn through play. To make your visits fun and easy, the museum offers the following amenities.
The museum offers free parking to its visitors. Lots can be entered off of St. Mary’s Avenue. Additional metered parking is available surrounding the museum. Museum entrances are located on the south and east sides of the building. (click here for a map and driving directions)
We know that kids like to eat…all the time. For your convenience, there is a picnic area outside the museum’s south entrance furnished with tables. There is also a picnic/vending area just inside the museum’s south entrance and a seating area on the second floor by the Rainbow Café. (see museum map here)
Need to take a quick break? The museum’s Family Room, inside Imagination Playground (see museum map here), offers several tables, chairs, and couch for a quiet place to unwind. For your convenience, there is also a private Nurture Room for breastfeeding. There’s also plenty of reading/resource materials for children and adults.
Drinking fountains are located outside the restrooms off the lobby on the main floor and outside the second floor restrooms.
Located on the second level of the museum you will find the Rainbow Cafe. We offer a variety of food options for every appetite. These include, but are not limited to:
Bring your family and your appetite and plan on spending the day with us here at the Museum!
Service animals are always welcome.
You can always bring a one-on-one aide or therapist to Omaha Children’s Museum with you for free.
We recognize that the museum can get loud! If your child needs a quieter spot, or a more focused activity, visit these spots:
To plan your visit at a quieter time, the museum is typically quiet on school weekdays in the afternoon.
If your child needs pressure, several exhibits in the Charlie Campbell Science Center have cranks that require effort to move.
If your child has difficulty with transitions, we recommend visiting towards the end of the day. Museum staff members make several announcements in preparation for closing. At that time, all visitors are encouraged to visit their favorite exhibit one more time, then make their way to the coatroom and depart for home.
If you have any questions related to accessibility, please call the Museum at (402) 342-6164 or email: email@example.com before your visit. Omaha Children’s Museum is fully accessible. Many traveling exhibits are also fully accessible. See individual exhibit pages for more information.
There are restrooms with multiple stalls and changing tables on both floors.
(see museum map here)
For those who are in the process of potty training, and those who simply prefer small potties (with handles that flush, rather than automatic flushes), they are located next to the Light Piano on the first floor. (see museum map here)
A large family restroom is located just outside Imagination Playground on the first floor. (see museum map here)
There are lockers near the entrance by the front desk available for rental. They are perfect for storing anything you don’t want to hold while you play!
Stroller parking is available outside the Wiggle Room just inside the entrance of Imagination Playground. (see museum map here)
Lost and found is located at the museum’s front desk.
Got a boo boo? Basic first aid materials are available at the museum’s front desk. Managers are also trained in basic first aid procedures.
