Overnights & Workshops

Overnights
Cost: $20/Child, $10/Adult
A 50% deposit is due two weeks after scheduling, with
final payment due at the overnight.

Spend a night at the museum! There’s nothing better than friends, fun and an entire evening full of playtime activities. Enjoy our interactive exhibits plus a variety of special activities in science and art that can be arranged
for your group. Overnights are facilitated by professional museum staff . The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. and concludes at 8 a.m. the following morning. An evening snack and breakfast item are provided.

Minimum Attendance: 50 Children (This can be made up of multiple groups, but the museum reserves the right to cancel if the minimum attendance is not met.)

Workshops
Omaha Children’s Museum is proud to offer a variety of workshops for Scouts and other groups. These facilitated sessions give guests the chance to work with museum staff on a broad range of subjects.

Dates:
Thursdays, 4-8 p.m. or Saturdays by appointment
Sessions must be scheduled in advance
Time: 90 min. (Unless otherwise specified)
Minimum: 8 students
Cost: $10/Student (includes museum admission)
Two adults are free with each group of eight children
$3 for each additi onal adult
Some workshops require an additional fee for materials.
Registration: Please have three potential dates identified
when calling to make a reservation.


Plants (Ages 6-8)

Children study plants and plant life in this unique workshop
that helps kids understand all the inner workings of a plant.
Workshop includes the garden-in-a-glove take home project,
plant rubbings and enrichment sheets all about plants.

Colors & Shapes (Ages 6-8)

Kids will get creati ve while experimenting with colors
and shapes. They’ll love making a mobile, weaving color
patt erns and painti ng with yarn.

Sound of Music (Ages 6-8)
Construct a percussion instrument, experiment with
strings, rubber bands and straws and make a shoebox
guitar. Each guest must supply their own shoebox.

Earth is our Home (Ages 6-8)
This workshop will help children become caretakers of
the earth. They will learn about recycling with our friend
Garbagena, experiment with making household cleaners
with environmentally safe items and learn how to make a
mini terrarium.

Science Sleuth (Ages 6-8)
Science experiments are fun and hands-on in this lab
workshop. Children will make a take home polymer, learn
how to blow up a balloon without using air and learn how
to diff use fi ltered color onto a fun shape.

Eco-Action (Ages 8-11)
Children will learn about how to care for our planet.
Garbagena will teach them about recycling, they’ll
make “trashy” art and experiment with improving the
environment with materials found around the house.

Making it Matter (Ages 8-11)
This hands-on workshop is all about lab experimentation. Learn
how to make a polymer, experiment with electrical circuits and
try to construct a bridge that will hold up to heavy traffic.

Math Whiz (Ages 8-11)
This workshop is all about working with shapes and
calculati ons. Make a math puzzle and 3-D shapes and
predict how many particles are in a glass jar to win a
fabulous prize.

Prints & Graphics (Ages 8-11)
This creative workshop teaches kids to make prints using
stencils, stamps and rubbings. The results are fun and the kids
will be impressed with real works of art they can take home.
