Every Thursday
Armed Forces Family Day

In appreciation of the sacrifices being made by the men and women in the armed forces, the Omaha Children’s Museum is making Thursday Armed Forces Family Day at the museum. On Thursdays, military families will get one free admission to the museum with every paid admission. Thursday is also the only day when the museum is open at night.

Military identification will be required to receive discounts. No refunds will be offered for memberships already purchased.

Disney Animal World Movie: Snakes!
this movie is shown daily and is 15 minutes long

Sat., Oct. 1
The museum opens two traveling exhibits. Come visit Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body. This 5,000 square foot exhibit answers more crusty, stinky, slimy questions about your body than you can stomach. Author Sylvia Branzei of the book Grossology will do a demonstration at 1:00 pm with a book signing to follow. Nigel Nose-It-All will make appearances from 10:30 – 11 a.m., 2 – 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 – 4 p.m. You can get your picture taken on our Toilet Throne; a tribute to Sir Thomas Crapper, inventor of the toilet. Framed pictures cost $3.00.
After visiting Grossology, enjoy Cobweb Castle. It's very kooky and a bit spooky. Take a tour of the castle and then visit our newest addition Find-Your-Way Forest.

Preschool Pals
Tuesday morning

Today’s theme is Teddy Bears. Bring your favorite teddy bear with you and we’ll supply the fun.

Bunch-A-Lunch
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Today begins the Rainbow Connectors Guild Bunch-A-Lunch Program. Each Tuesday families can enjoy a hotdog, chips, carrots, cookie and drink for $2.50. Tickets are available at the front desk.

Thurs., Oct. 6
Pizza & Play
5:30 – 7 p.m.
OCM has teamed up with Sam & Louie's New York Style Pizza to begin Pizza & Play. Your family can enjoy a pizza dinner and have some really big family fun in the museum until 8:00 pm. Dinner is a big slice of pizza, bread stick and soda. Cost: adults - $4.00, children (12 & under) - $3.00. A portion of the cost of dinner is being donated back to OCM. Thanks Sam & Louie's!

Sat., Oct. 8
Japanese Lantern Workshop
11 a.m. & 2 p.m.

We will have a Japanese Lantern Workshop. Children will use watercolor paints to paint a beautiful Japanese lantern. This workshop is suitable for children 5 & up. The workshop will accommodate 20 children. Cost: $2.00 per child. Please pre-register at the front desk by Oct. 6.

Sun., Oct. 9
Sunday Fun Day
1 – 3 p.m.

Sunday Fun Day! OCM will be filled with area friends to give us information about programs available for parents and children. We will also give parents ideas about how to play with your children in each of our exhibit areas. Come have some fun on Sunday!

Tuesday mornings
Today’s theme is Leaves. Collect some leaves with your child and bring them in for some autumn fun

Thurs., Oct. 13
Trick-or-Treat Night

6 – 8 p.m.
It's Trick-or-Treat Night at OCM. Come visit Cobweb Castle and the new Find-Your-Way Forest and then collect some candy from our eight Trick-or-Treat stations. Make sure you wear your costume.

Fri., Oct. 15
Manga Workshop
11:30 a.m.

Artist Russ Harper will introduce children to the art of Japanese comics. This is a 90 minute workshop for children ages 8 & up. Cost: $3.00. This class will accommodate 25 children. Please pre-register at the front desk by Oct. 13.

Miss Spider's Tea Party
11 a.m.

Miss Spider's Tea Party is inspired by the book by David Kirk. Children can get dressed up and attend a wonderful tea party with cookies and juicy tea. We will have a reading of Miss Spider's Tea Party and some activity sheets to take home. Guests may also purchase the book to keep in their own home library. Our party will accommodate 30 guests of all ages. Cost: $4.00 per guest (party only); $20.00 per guest with the purchase of the book. Please pre-register at the front desk by Oct. 20 (for Oct. 22) or Oct. 27 (for Oct. 29).

Today’s theme is Where the Wild Things Are. Wear your Halloween costume and join us for a wild rumpus parade.

Fri., Oct. 28
Halloween Hoopla
6 – 8 p.m.

This is the annual museum Halloween Party. This year we celebrate with the second season of Cobweb Castle with our new feature Find-Your-Way Forest. Children can make a fun Halloween craft project, get a balloon creation from stilt walking balloon artist, David the Incredible or balloon artist Rob the Rodeo Clown. You can get really grossed out in Grossology: The Impolite Science of the Human Body. Go Trick-or-Treating at our 10 candy stations. Cost: $7, children; $5.50 adults; $3.50 member children; Free, member adults; Free, children under 24 months. Tickets go on sale Tues, Oct. 11.
