The Royal Highland Ball

6 to 9 p.m.

 

Fierce dragon trainers, princesses, and Vikings, you are cordially invited to the first ever Royal Highland Ball. The evening will include activities like the Highland Games such archery, bagpipe and kilt making stations, dragon egg and sword decorating stations, and you can build your own catapult and Viking boat. Be sure to meet the Castle Pets! There will be a bearded dragon, tegu (large lizard), owl, fox, baby kangaroo and a boa constrictor, thanks to Wildlife Encounters.

Of course, plenty of opportunities to meet characters including princesses and princes (and even dragon trainers), so bring a camera! There will also be dinner and horse-drawn carriage rides included with the ticket. Fireworks will conclude the night. Outdoor activities including the carriage rides and fireworks are weather-permitting.

 

Ticket information

Tickets are $20 per person for members and $35 per person for non-members. Children and adults will need tickets to this event. Children under 24 months do not need a ticket.

Combo tickets to attend both The Royal Highland Ball and the Fairytale Ball are available. Combo tickets are $30 each for members and $60 each for non-members, and must be purchased in person at the museum or by phone at 402-342-6164.  Combo tickets are not available for purchase online.

 

Itinerary for the Royal Highland Ball

5:30 p.m. - Check-in begins

6 p.m. - Princesses' grand arrival

6 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. -  The ball begins! On the first floor, find kilt making in the Tinker Lab, catapult and Viking boat building in the Imagination Room, and bagpipe making in the S.T.E.A.M. Cave. On the second floor, play Highland Game in the Enchanted Kingdom and decorate dragon eggs and swords in the Science Lab. Find Princess Daisy in the Art Smart Center, Princess Violet in Attic Adventures and Princess Rose in the Enchanted Kingdom. Hiccup and Astrid will also be in the Enchanted Kingdom. Outdoors, enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides (weather permitting). A buffet dinner will be served in the Art Smart Center on the first floor and in the Rainbow Cafe on the second floor.

6:30 to 8:30 p.m. - Meet the Castle Pets near Thistle's stage in the Enchanted Kingdom.

9 p.m. - Fireworks finale (weather permitting)
