Omaha Children's Museum hosts Omaha's first ever Live Apprentice Rube Goldberg Contest® on Feb. 8, 2020. The Live Apprentice competition is the Elementary School Division and is open to teams consisting of children ages 8 to 11. The winner will be eligible to compete in the Live Apprentice Finals. Attendance to the event is open to the public and is included with regular museum admission.
Since 1988, the Rube Goldberg Machine Contest has been an event where students of all ages could compete with machines they have imagined, designed and created in a fun and competitive forum. Teams must have a team leader that is over the age of 18. The competitions encourage teamwork and out-of-the-box problem solving. The theme for the 2020 competition is "Turn Off A Light."
Registration is limited to 14 teams and closes Jan. 8, 2020. The registration fee is $395. Teams can register at rubegoldberg.com. Rube Goldberg, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting STEM and STEAM education for students of all ages.
