Classroom Enrichment Presented by museum educators, these programs provide a unique way for students to learn about their world. From geology to Grossology and recycling to respect, Omaha Children’s Museum is proud to offer theseprograms sure to complement classroom curriculum. Each program includes a study guide with post-visit activities and information to help extend the experience.

This interactive enrichment program is designed to help children deal with topics such as diversity, self-esteem and acceptance based on the book The Skin You Live In. The children will follow along as the museum educator presents the book and then uses a puppet to discuss what makes us diff erent and unique. This program also supplies each classroom with their own copy of the book The Skin You Live In. Children will complete the program by making a self-portrait, which will be collected and put on display at the. Each student will receive a free pass to
attend the museum with their family to see their picture on display. Pictures will be on display for one month following the program.

Boogers, zits, poop and barf may be the topics, but it’s biology that students learn while cooking up some of the nastiest treats imaginable. Inspired by the popular traveling exhibit and book series Grossology: The Impolite Science of the Human Body, this irreverent enrichment program brings the science of gross, nasty stuff to life as students learn why our bodies do some of the disgusting things they do.

Students will take part in hands-on activities that help them learn all about the science of geology. Choose one of the following topics.
Rock Formation
Learn all about the three different types of rocks by simulating their formation. Squish sedimentary rocks to turn them into metamorphic rocks and watch a man-made igneous rock form before your very eyes!
Mineral Identification
Learn about the fabulous world of minerals and how to tell them apart just like a real scientist.

Travel back to the 1600’s with an interactive program that illustrates what Pilgrims wore and how they lived. Learn about the true facts of the first Thanksgiving and uncover the myths of this holiday. Students will handle recreated items from Plimouth Plantation and learn about 17th Century clothes and customs.

Make math fun! Your students will practice and learn math at stations covering Fractions, Measurements, Geometry, Multiplication & Division, Money and more! The games are simple to understand and play, and can easily be replicated at home or in your classroom. This program features games and activities from the hit PBS series Cyberchase.

Take a trip to the world of the dinosaurs! Children will learn about these lost giants through songs, stories, finger plays and action games. They will also make a running T-Rex and 3-D Stegosaurus crafts!

Take a visit to the museum’s Rainbow Farm and learn all about the animals! Children will make their own farm pocket play set with paper stick puppets. These will partner perfectly with the song “Old MacDonald” and learning exploration games.

Early learners will enjoy practicing their counting skills when they explore the world of numbers through song and stories. Each child will make an elephant counting game to take home, too!

What has eight legs and is packed with even more fun?
A Spinning Spider Tiny Adventure! Spiders are anything but scary when we explore this creature with pint-sized science! Children will make Itsy Bitsy Spiders that crawl up the waterspout.
