Michelle Chartrand joined the museum in April as Development and Membership Manager.
"How can you be in a bad mood when you work at a place full of excited kids and parents?" said Michelle.
Michelle loves kids. She describes herself as a kid at heart and explained that she has ten wonderful nieces and nephews and also has her first baby on the way, due in November. Prior to working at the museum she has done a lot of volunteer work with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Michelle believes strongly in empowering children. “Allowing them to experiment with their creative side and discover that it has no boundaries is really essential to their future," she said.
Her favorite place in the museum is the theater and creative
arts area. She thinks it's fun to see what kids can create with even the simplest materials.
Michelle's favorite children’s book is Corduroy. Her favorite color is blue
and if she could be a fictional character it would be Alice from Alice In Wonderland.
When she's not working at the museum, Michelle and her husband try to do something adventurous each year. Last year they went skydiving in Chicago
and in 2010 they traveled to Australia.
If you see Michelle around the museum, say hello!
