10 Things To Know About Summer At OCM
May 30 4:06 PM
Welcome to summer at Omaha Children’s Museum! Here are 10 tips to make the most of your visit:

1. Visit any day. The Museum is open seven days a week through Labor Day Weekend (except for the Fourth of July and Labor Day).

2. Don’t miss the new exhibits (and there is a lot of new stuff). There are two NEW exhibits at the Museum: Dinosaur Safari and Art Smart Center. Dinosaur Safari is our special summer exhibit, so you’re going to want to visit that before Labor Day. Art Smart Center is the new permanent space for creative arts, performing arts, tinkering and more.

3. Special day events
. We love adding fun activities to your visit, so we’ve planned some fun events that are included with museum admission. Visit us on June 21 to celebrate the first day of summer with a beach party! Know a little inventor? Bring him or her to Tinkerfest on July 22. See all of our special events here.

4. Fairytale Ball. Our magical night of royal fun is back, and now it’s on two nights, July 29 and Aug. 5! Each night features food fit for a prince and princess, special character interaction, horse drawn carriage rides, and fireworks.

5. Be ready to cool off. You might want to bring a swimsuit. On a hot summer day, nothing beats running around our splash ground out front.

6. Science shows. Come learn about bubbles and dinosaur grossology this summer at a science show. They’re held Mondays through Saturdays at 11 a.m., noon, 1, 2 and 3 p.m., and Sundays at noon, 2 and 3 p.m.

7. Members perks. Member families already love the free admission to the museum for a year, but they also get other great perks like discounts to special events like the Fairytale Ball and summer camps, as well as a discount in our gift shop. Another super perk is members-only hour from 9 to 10 a.m. Mondays through Fridays all summer long. Want to become a member? Head here.

8. Daily programming. There are 10+ daily programs at the museum that include science shows and the all new Storybook Yoga. Our summer exhibit also have daily programs. In Dinosaur Safari, kids can enjoy Creature Feature, Fossil-tastic Fun, Slice Sleuth and Safari Quest. In Fairytale Land, kids love Sing-A-Long, Knight’s Adventure and the all-new program, Spellbound. Visit our calendar to time your visit.

9. Animals! Head upstairs to Dinosaur Safari to meet some of our animal friends like Madagascar hissing cockroaches and a bearded dragon. Don’t forget to check on our eggs, provided by Barreras Family Farm, to see if any chick is about to hatch.

10. Parking. We have free parking! If the lot to the south of our building is full, check the elementary school parking lot across the street. There is also metered parking all around our block.

Enjoy your visit!
